VLDB is the premier international conference on database technology, organized every year by the VLDB Endowment. VLDB 2002 be held in Hong Kong, the "pearl of the orient," and one of the great cities of the world. Hong Kong, a city of sharp contrasts--towering skyscrapers, emerald-green mountains, bustling streets, and sandy beaches--a city where East and West meet, a city with a rich British heritage, but a city with still an overwhelmingly oriental character. A city where people, cultures and cuisine from around the world can be found, and enjoyed. Proceedings from earlier VLDB Conferences are distributed by Morgan Kaufmann. The VLDB Endowment also publishes the VLDB Journal through Springer.
