We invite proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with VLDB 2004 in Toronto, on August 29 and 30, 2004. Unlike in previous years, this year workshops will form an integral part of the VLDB program and will be held at the same venue. Workshops are intended to be small, interactive events allowing extensive discussion. They should focus on a specialized topic of current interest within the scope of the VLDB conference. PROPOSALS Please include the following in your proposal: - Workshop title - A brief technical description of the topic and issues that will be addressed. - Justification: why is this topic of interest at this particular time? - Contact information and affiliation of the Workshop Chair(s) and each member of the organizing committee or program committee. - If the workshop has been held before, whether in conjunction with VLDB or not, a list of all such occurrences. - An estimate of the number of participants. If you want to have an upper bound on this number, please indicate this bound. - A description of the format of the workshop: will there be formal papers? Position papers? Panels? Invited speakers? - An explanation of how the format described above will encourage interactivity and discussion. - A description of the process for selecting papers or presentations, if any. - Ideal duration of the workshop. SUBMISSION Please email your proposal to the workshop selection co-chairs at the address listed below. ASCII text is strongly preferred, PDF and Postscript also accepted. Alberto Mendelzon,
