Abstract
Systems analysis is a very important step in the information system development cycle.
As database management systems become more popular,
the task of systems analysis becomes more difficult since many systems analysts are unable to keep abreast of recent advances in the database technology.
In the past few years,
the Entity-Relationship diagrammatic (ERD) technique [1-4] has been found useful in the systems analysis process.
However, the existing concepts and structures of the ERD technique are relatively simple and may not be sufficient to model very complex systems in some cases.
Recently, there have been several attempts to extend the ERD technique [5-8], and this paper was motivated by their research results.
