Abstract
The tutorial will cover the concepts used in conceptual data modeling and database design, including entities, attributes, relationships, subclasses, specialization, generalization and catego- ries.
It will also present the techniques for mapping (transforming) a database schemadesign from an extended-ER model into a relational database design.
A comparison between the traditional extended-ER models and the newer object-oriented data models will also be given.
