The Very Large Databases (VLDB) Summer School 2023 is organized by the VLDB Endowment, together with Professors from TU Darmstadt, TU Cluj-Napoca, and INRIA, and it focuses all aspects of Data Management in the Cloud.
The Summer School will take place in the heart of Transylvania at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, and it will welcome outstanding international speakers from Academia and Research Institutions covering topics including:
The Very Large Databases (VLDB) Summer School 2023 will take place between the 24th and 27th of July at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Cluj-Napoca is a vibrant city and regional hub in Transylvania. It is the home for several universities, among which the prestigious Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and the Babes Bolyai University. Cluj has an international airport with several daily flights to major European hubs. The Summer School will take place at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, in the building on the Daicoviciu street, downtown. The lecture halls can be easily reached from the many hotels in Cluj.
If you are an (early stage) PhD student or in the last year of your Master’s studies in Computer Science, you should apply! We will select participants based on their CV and motivation letter. Once selected, we will ask you to pay for the participation to secure your place at the event.
The participation fee (excluding travel and lodging) is 400€. For lodging, Cluj has many different options, matching different budgets. We will offer a limited number of discounted participation fees (100€) – click on More Information below to find out more!
The registration site will open on 14th of April with a first deadline for applications on the 30th of April. After the deadline we will review all applications and will send out selection decisions before mid-May. Subject to availability of places, a second round for applications will be opened, with a deadline on the 15th of May. The decisions for the second round of applications will be sent out in late May.
