To ensure that all sessions run smoothly and stay on time,
please observe the following guidelines for your
presentation:
- Prepare
a brief biographical
sketch (3-5
points) before you arrive at the conference for
use by the session chair when introducing you.
- Find
your session chair as early in the
conference as
possible to let him or her know who is presenting and to
give him or her your biographical sketch.
- Arrive
in the session room at least 15 minutes before the start
of the session
to check the AV setup.
- Ensure
that your presentation fits the allotted
time. Do at
least one dry run before leaving for your trip. For
research and industrial sessions, you have
at
most 25 minutes of speaking
time, plus a few
minutes for Q&A. Sessions chairs will have time cards
that they can use to let you know when you have 5 minutes
and 1 minute remaining. Session chairs will be strict
about keeping the sessions on schedule, so you can expect
to be cut off if you run over your allotted time.
- Bring
your presentation on a floppy disk or CD
(or both for
extra peace of mind) if you are planning to project from
a PC so you can load it onto the PC in the session room.
Do this even if you are bringing your own notebook in
case your notebook has a compatibility problem with the
projector. Macintosh users, please have a copy in PC
format, if possible.
