Registration Options You may register using either our online registration form (via our secure server) Note that both cookies and Javascript must be enabled in your browser to use our online registration form. or, if you cannot or prefer not to register online, you can download our PDF registration form or Word registration form and mail or fax it to the VLDB 2002 Registration Office along with your payment. Payment Options We accept payment by credit card - VISA, MasterCard and American Express only or cheque - in Hong Kong dollars drawn on a Hong Kong bank only. Payment can be made online via our secure server or included with your faxed or mailed registration form. For payment in Hong Kong dollars, an exchange rate of US$1.00 to HK$7.8 will be used (subject to currency fluctuations). Payment must be received with the registration form for the registration to be confirmed. Note: These registration and payment options can be used to register and pay for the VLDB main conference, and/or the 1st VLDB Workshop on Efficiency and Effectiveness of XML Tools and Techniques (EEXTT 2002) and/or the 3rd VLDB Workshop on Technologies for E-Services (TES'02).

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

The regular registration category fee includes attendance at all the conference sessions, tutorials and other scientific events (excluding workshops), continental breakfast on each day of the conference, lunch on the first three days of the conference, morning and afternoon refreshment breaks, one copy of the proceedings, one reception ticket and one banquet ticket. Please submit one registration form for each regular delegate. The student registration category fee includes attendance at all the conference sessions, tutorials and other scientific events (excluding workshops), continental breakfast on each day of the conference, lunch on the first three days of the conference, morning and afternoon refreshment breaks and one copy of the proceedings. Please submit one registration form for each student delegate. Only full time students qualify for the student rate. Students must present a letter from their supervisor or a student ID on-site. Early and advance registration payment must be received by the corresponding registration deadline date or the next higher registration fee will apply. Payment must accompany all registration forms and can be made by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express) or by check payable to "Hong Kong University of Science and Technology" in Hong Kong dollars and drawn on a Hong Kong bank. Registration forms received without payment will not be processed. Any outstanding registration fees must be paid before attendance at the conference will be authorized. Cancellations and substitutions are allowed. Cancellations must be made in writing to the VLDB 2002 Registration Office at the address specified above. Full registration fees will be charged unless a cancellation notice is received by 23 July 2002, 5:00 p.m. Hong Kong time. A US$50 handling fee will be applied to all cancelled registrations. No fees will be refunded after the cancellation deadline. Cancellations will be processed after the conference. Substitutions must be made in writing either to the VLDB 2002 Registration Office at the address specified above or on-site. A letter on company/institution letterhead is required from the original registrant stating the conditions of the substitution and the name of the replacement. Use of personal information. Any personal/business information supplied to the conference will be used by the conference organization for the purposes of conference registration and administration. Names/addresses of attendees will be processed electronically and included in a list of participants that may be posted/distributed during and in connection with the conference. In addition, under control of the VLDB Endowment Board, this information may also be made available for purposes beneficial to the scientific community such as informing attendees of relevant related publications, events, or items of interest to the community. By registering for the conference, participants give their consent for such uses of their personal/business information. Best effort. The organizers of VLDB 2002 are making every effort to make it an enlightening and enjoyable experience for participants. However, neither the VLDB Endowment nor the local organizers can take responsibility for any damage, loss or inconvenience participants might incur in connection with the conference. In addition, the organizers cannot be held responsible for the correctness or appropriateness of the talks, papers, panels, tutorials and demonstrations included in the conference. In particular, changes to the published conference program or cancellation of parts thereof do not entitle participants to a full or partial refund of the conference fee.
