Call for Workshop Proposals

VLDB 2011 invites submissions for workshop proposals on all topics covered by the conference.

The VLDB 2011 workshops will typically be either half-day or full-day events, taking place either on Monday, August 29, 2011 or on Saturday, September 3, 2011 (i.e., on the day before or on the day after the core of the conference). The VLDB 2011 workshops will be "serviced," meaning that logistics such as registration, catering, room allocation, and audiovisual arrangements will be handled by the VLDB conference organizers. The workshop organizers are responsible for defining the technical program and workshop format.

Workshop proposals should be submitted via email to vldb2011-workshops@lists.cs.columbia.edu. The submission deadline is January 31, 2011, 11:59 p.m. PST. Acceptance decisions will be communicated by March 1, 2011. Workshop organizers with special requirements (e.g., special workshop duration or venue, a compelling need for an early workshop proposal evaluation) should contact the workshop program co-chairs as soon as possible; such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Workshop proposals must be at most five pages and should include the workshop title, contact information, chairs, and organizers, as well as a technical description of the workshop, the workshop format, potential program committee members, and potential speakers or keynotes. Workshop proposals should also indicate the preferred workshop date and duration. If a proposed workshop has had earlier editions, the workshop proposal should provide, whenever possible, historical information about the workshop, such as venues, number of papers submitted and accepted for presentation, and number of attendees for the previous editions.
