VLDB 2017 solicits panel proposals on novel and controversial perspectives of topics of interest and importance to the database research community, especially on topics to which the community has limited access. To encourage panelist and audience interaction we specifically solicit novel panel formats such as that of a debate.
Proposals should include the panel title; the names, affiliations, and brief biographies of the moderator and the panelists. Ideally we want panels to consist of both junior and senior researchers. In addition, proposals should include a brief description of the content and format of the discussion.
Panels should focus on novelty in topic and in a format that will encourage interaction. Proposals should include specific examples of provocative questions to be addressed by the panel, and should clearly answer the following questions:
Panel Submission: April 20, 2017, 11:59PM US Pacific Daylight Time
Notification of acceptance: April 29, 2017
Submissions should not exceed two pages and should follow the VDLB 2017 submission format.
All panel proposals should be submitted by email at:
stratos@seas.harvard.edu and
Michael@MichaelBrodie.com
with email title: [VLDB 2017: Panel Submission]
Short panel summaries will appear in the VLDB 2017 conference proceedings.
